Description

This is a contracted apprenticeship role for an aspiring teacher to join an innovative school network. The Apprentice Teacher will partner with a Resident Teacher to deliver enquiry-based learning, support classroom instruction and management, and contribute to a rigorous and joyful learning environment for primary school students.

Responsibilities

• Support Resident Teachers in delivering impactful, enquiry-based lessons using technology
• Help set rigorous goals for students and provide feedback
• Collaborate on ongoing student assessment and use data to adjust teaching
• Attend weekly feedback and professional development meetings
• Communicate regularly with parents
• Participate in co-curricular activities and school duties

Qualifications

• Education:
• Currently in your 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree OR
• Completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in 2026
• You must not be a qualified teacher at the start of 2026
• Specialisation: Must be specialising in the Foundation Phase
• Registration: Provisional SACE (South African Council for Educators) registration
• Experience/Ideal Skills:
• Teaching experience or curriculum knowledge in English and Mathematics
• Experience in Singapore Maths and THRASS (English) is ideal but not compulsory
• An understanding of the Cambridge curriculum is an advantage
